Unforgettable Port Antonio tours in Jamaica
Tours are often the highlight of vacationers visiting Port Antonio. There is much more to this quiet town than meets the eye. Some say Jamaican tourism was born in Port Antonio. During the late 1900’s it was considered the banana capital of world. Tourism slowed significantly during the 1920s when the town experienced a banana blight, but the fascination with this small town remained strong. Take a three hour tour of one of the area’s most well-known caves called Nonsuch Caves. It’s filled with some of the most interesting rock formations including stalactites and stalagmites. The guided tours follow a lighted path so you won’t miss a thing. The cave is 1,500,000 years old and also contains fascinating Arawak Indian artifacts.
The Jerk Experience
The Jerk Experience Tour is meant to show visitors some of the best of what Port Antonio has to offer. The two to three hour experience starts at the historic home of famous actor Errol Flynn and hear the story of his life in this enchanting little town. Next, you’ll take a trip down 15 miles of Long Bay coastline and beach. Then it’s off to learn all about the infamous Maroon culture jerk cuisine where you’ll even get to sample some of the delicious treats. Next top is to see the Blue Lagoon which was home to the famous author Robert Moore who wrote “The French Connection.” Finally, the experience ends at Frenchman’s Cove, a world renown river, beach and hotel.
